Well, to name a few, you can have an increased storage space in Gmail, a double spam protection and so on. But do all know how to configure Gmail into Outlook ? Well !! definitely not ! But now those depressed users might get a ray of hope left as they can easily proceed to configure their Gmail account with the help of the steps discussed below:-
- first you need to go to your web browser and then type Gmail
- Once the Gmail site is opened then you need to click on the icon named gear and choose the button Settings
- Now click on the option Forwarding and POP/IMAP
- Now you can choose to click Enable POP for all mail that arrives from now on under the head POP download
- Now you can choose Archive Gmail’s Copy from the drop down box which is located beside When messages are accessed with POP
- Next you need to click on Save changes
The above method lets the users to configure their account automatically. However if you are looking for the steps for manually configuring your Gmail into Outlook, then you need to follow the instructions as follows:-
- First go to File menu and choose Add Account
- Now choose Manually configure server settings or additional server types
- Now click on Next
- After that choose Internet Email and then again click on the option Next
- Now once the dialog box appears you can proceed to type your name, email id as well as password in the specific fields
- Next you need to choose POP under the head Account Type if you really like to make a POP3 account. In case you want to create a IMAP account, then Choose IMAP
- Now you can enter imap.gmail.com or pop.gmail.com for incoming server as per your requirements
- now type smtp.gmail.com in Outgoing server
- Next click on the option More Settings
- Now click to choose the option My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication under the tab Outgoing server
- after that click on choose Use same settings as my incoming server
- Now go to the option Advanced Tab
- After that enter 995 in the incoming server if you are likely to create a pop3 account. Enter 993 if you are trying to set IMAP
- After that you need to click to choose the option This server requires an encrypted connection
- Set the encryption type SSL for IMAP account
- Now type the value 587 in the Outgoing server and set encryption type to TLS
- Next click on OK for closing the dialog box
- After that click on the option Test Account Settings for testing the settings
- Now click Next to exit this dialog box
